HISTORY • Born in Virginia he moved as a young boy to Griffin, Georgia. Doc's mother died of Consumption when he was 15 years old. His father wanted him to become a lawyer but, to spite his father, he chose dentistry instead. He attended Valdosta Institute and later Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery. After graduation it was discovered he had contacted the same disease that had killed his mother. The only known cure was to live in a hot, dry climate.
