((ooc: Yes please join. And your little Tully, too.))
"Who the hell do you think you are? That was my robbery, not yours!"
"What's that mean? I was just there ta get what I need...didn't mean ta do 'nough ta go ta prison..." What a mess, and she blamed everyone else!
Lewis was shocked when the fella he had just helped reigned his pony to a stop and began asking him questions. He was even more shocked when Tully added that she was in it, also.
"Didn't look ta me that you was a-doin' much a anything 'cept makin' a fool a yersef," he told him and pulled his handkerchief down. "But guess whose face all them folk's will remember when they talk to the law?" he looked at him. "Your'ns. Not mine," he told him. "An you, little Missy, was in on it, too?" he shook his head. "We needs ta git goin' afore they catch up to us with a posse. Name's Lewis Payne and half that money is mine," he jerked the reigns out of his hand and spurred his pony forward. .
Another mile he pulled up to a small shack and stopped.

"Didn't look ta me that you was a-doin' much a anything 'cept makin' a fool a yersef," he told him and pulled his handkerchief down.
"Was not 'till them folks come in," Tully grumbled. "I was about ta leave, then.." She shrugged and glanced at Jeremiah. "Reckon he was tryin' ta help me, 'though I got no reason why." After all, he didn't owe her anything, and had no tie to her. Still, she did appreciate the effort.
"But guess whose face all them folk's will remember when they talk to the law?" he looked at him. "Your'ns. Not mine," he told him. "An you, little Missy, was in on it, too?" he shook his head.
"Not with him...not like that, no ways." Tully shrugged. Who knew what would happen now? She'd always managed to get away with her crimes, but then, she'd never blatantly held up anyone and certainly had never used a weapon. This was new territory to her.
"We needs ta git goin' afore they catch up to us with a posse. Name's Lewis Payne and half that money is mine," he jerked the reins out of his hand and spurred his pony forward. .
Another mile he pulled up to a small shack and stopped.
Tully gasped as the horse bolted forward, angry that the man had inadvertently (or purposefully, she wasn't sure which) had made her sit more closely back against him and grab his arm for support. Once at the shack, she scooted forward, then glanced to Jeremiah for clues on what to do next. She sure had no idea, and she wanted to be ready to duck if he decided to shoot this Lewis guy!

Emeline realized that her mouth was still hanging open and she abruptly shut it, glancing at Shawn and his boy. "Did they really...?" Despite having been robbed, a smile crept across her face. "Did we really just get robbed? By real bandits? Just like in the novels?" How exciting was that?! "Goodness! Are you all right? What about that poor girl? Should we find the sheriff? Oh, goodness! How am I going to pay for my room now? And supper...I'll need to find Mr. Andrews, I'm the new school marm, you see, and he's the one who is sponsoring me, but I'm not supposed to meet with him for another day..."
Her eyes widened as a pink tint touched her cheeks. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling. Really, are you all right?"

Was not 'till them folks come in," Tully grumbled. "I was about ta leave, then.." She shrugged and glanced at Jeremiah. "Reckon he was tryin' ta help me, 'though I got no reason why." After all, he didn't owe her anything, and had no tie to her. Still, she did appreciate the effort.
Jeremiah eyebrows rose as Tully figured it out. “I was trying to help you so I can get your out of my life. I should have him take you away for good,” he said. He turned to look at the other robber, and he continued. “She's like a bad penny that keeps coming back for more,” he shared.
"But guess whose face all them folk's will remember when they talk to the law?" he looked at him. "Your'ns. Not mine," he told him.
The man was being smart. Jeremiah smiled to the other man. “No. I do not have to hide my face. I am well known as part of the gang. They know to cross me. You are the fool, not me,” he said glaring at the other man.
"An you, little Missy, was in on it, too?" he shook his head.
“She is....” Jeremiah stopped as he cut him off as he was replying to the other. Jeremiah was known to mix up his facts, and make things more difficult for himself.
Not with him...not like that, no ways." Tully shrugged.
Those words had a stung feeling. The way she said it made Jeremiah feel rejected by her. Was he really that shallow about Tully? Did he really love her? Was she messing up his feelings because she found a place in his heart?
Who knew what would happen now? Tully had always managed to get away with her crimes, but then, she'd never blatantly held up anyone and certainly had never used a weapon. This was new territory to her.
"We needs ta git goin' afore they catch up to us with a posse. Name's Lewis Payne and half that money is mine," he jerked the reigns out of his hand and spurred his pony forward. .[/i]
As they rode, Jeremiah wanted Tully with him. He let the man have Tully ride with him. He focused on her as they rode.
Another mile he pulled up to a small shack and stopped.
The first thing Jeremiah wanted no harm done to Tully. He pulled his gun at the other man. This was bad. He looked at Lewis. “I make a deal with you,” he told him slowly. “You where robbing the General store. I was helping my friend. Why don't we do this? You let her free, you can take the money and leave,” he said. The truth was, Jeremiah did not need the money. He could come up with a story that he had tried to stop the man. Who would he tell that too?
“You do know, you stole money on Les Coureur Enfer terroritory in De Feuego. And the lady is my property,” he added. “You mess around with me, you mess around with Les Coureur. That explains why nobody chased you. They saw me. Do you see you have odds against you, Lewis.”

Reply to Emeline:
Shawn nodded to the young mistress. “I am afraid we just did,” Shawn replied to her with much kind in his voice. It was the wild life of the old west.
Shawn had moved to the door. He opened the door. He stepped out to see if anyone was alarmed. The town did not seemed to take notice what just happened. “James, come here,” Shawn called for his son. James came running to his father' side. “Son, go get the Sheriff,” he ordered his son. His son nodded, and ran toward where the Sheriff's office was.
Shawn turned back to the young lady. “I am fine,” he said to her. His looked her over. “Are you okay?” he asked her.

"Yes, yes, I believe I am." Emeline let out a breath, then smiled. "Well, that was...exhilarating! Do you really think they were all working together? I mean, they seemed sort of disorganized." She shrugged, then her eyes went wide. "Oh...goodness! They took my..." Well, at least her room was paid for for the night, but supper was another matter.
