((ooc: Continued from the robbery of the General Store thread.))
Holding Tully around her waist he spurred his pony on until they reached an old shack several miles out of town. Behind him Jeremiah also rode. He knew the boy was angry but he didn't much care.
Reining his horse to a stop he dismounted, still holding onto the girl to make sure she wouldn't run off. He figured half of what was in the cash box she hugged to her chest was his.
"Inside," he told Jeremiah over his shoulder and walked up the few steps on a small porch and kicked open the rough hewn door and carried Tully inside looking like some bizarre groom carrying his reluctant bride over the threshold.
The shack had a big room with a cooking fireplace off to the side and a table and chairs in the center. A small room was built to the side that held a small bed and lantern. A tiny opening had been sawed by the bed to allow air in but was closed with a couple of pieces of lumber that was attached to the wall with leather hinges and could be opened by piece of rawhide attached to the front. The flooring was the same rough wood the door was built out of but was covered by an elegant oval carpet Lewis had stolen from some plantation home.
Behind back was an single seat outhouse and on the other side of the shack a small pump where you could get water. This was where Lewis called home.
"Ya promise not ta run off Ah'll let you down," he told her with an edge to his voice. "Otherwise Ah'll tie you to a chair. It's up to you, missy."

"Ain't no one gonna tie me no where!" Tully grumbled, struggling, but then she finally sagged, nodding, her mass of curls bobbing with her head. "Awright, I'll behave," she declared, although she was promising herself that she'd follow Jeremiah's lead...should he offer one. "Don't cotton ta be hangin' upside down, mister."

Jeremiah was tense as he was following Lewis. Jeremiah had wanted to shoot the man was man handling Tully. That woman was something. The something was a mystery to Jeremiah.
This situation was wrong. Why was he caring for the little spit fire? damn. He found himself angry how Lewis holding her close. Why can't Jeremiah do anything right? Everything he does blows up in his face. This explains how he gets treated in the gang. The sure thing that Jeremiah has is loyal to the company of gangsters.
His dark blue eyes gone shade dark as he dismount his horse at the shack. He followed Lewis in. Now it was time to play poker. Jeremiah was not good at.
Jeremiah waved Tully to come over where Jeremiah was standing. And Jeremiah address Lewis. "So we got a problem," he said slowly. "You came in my job. You have no idea who I affiliate with. I look like a man of one but I am a member of a gang. We do not smile on people like you. Instead we frown on people like you. So I make it easy. Give my half and you keep your half. The girl is mine," he said holding his gun to the other man.

Lewis turned towards Jeremiah with a wide grin and a chuckle. He still held Tully in his arms as he faced the not so bright young man.
"Affiliate? Thet's a real big word fer a little, stupid punk like you. Looks ta me yer the one with the problem," he continued to grin and chuckle. "Cause Ah gots yer girl an yer money. Tully was fuming inside -- she hated being used as a pawn and shield, but at the moment there wasn't much she could do besides keeping her cool and biding her time.
Focusing in Jeremiah, she controlled her breathing, waiting for any indication that he might be getting ready to shoot the man...or something!

]“Les Coureur Enfer is the gang,” Jeremiah replied by giving the man a hard cold stare. “I robbed the store because I was looking for a bride,” he said. It came out fast. Bride? Where was his mind? Okay, lying was not his forte. He was told to think before he spoke. One day he will learn. Today was not the day.
Jeremiah waved his gun up at the man, “Now, give me my woman. You can keep the money,” it was a threat. His heart was indeed pounding against his chest. He hoped for his life. That Lewis will give up Tully.

"A BRIDE?!" Lewis couldn't believe his ears and roared with laughter. "Ya want this little bit on fluff to be your bride?" he shook Tully, his arm still around her waist. She felt light as a feather in his arm.
“Now, give me my woman. You can keep the money,”
"Whoa, pawdner!" he put his empty hand up to ward off Jeremiah. "If'n thet's what ye wants, fine an' dandy. Ya ain't got ta git rowdy. Sounds like a fair trade ta me. Tell ye what. Ah'll take the cash box and mosey out a' here real peaceful like an' leave ya two alone and thet will be the end of our pawdnership. Sound good ta you? Now girl," he spoke to Tully, "jest hand me thet box an' Ah'll putcha down on the floor then ye rush inta yer honey's arms.. Either of ya does anythun' wrong Ah'll out a bullet inta both of y'all. "Bride?" Tully wasn't sure what annoyed her more, Jeremiah's crazy claims or the manhandling she was getting from the man behind her.
“Now, give me my woman. You can keep the money,”
"Yer...?" Woman?! Tully looked at Jeremiah, startled that he would be willing to give up his share of any money for her?

"Yeah..." Keeping her focus on Jeremiah, Tully held the box out. "How'm I supposed ta give it to ya with ya holdin' me all in yer arms like that?" He'd have to let her go to take the box, and she was wondering if Jeremiah would try something in that fleeting moment...If he did, she was ready to duck.

Tully was not happy. Jeremiah could not blame her. It was Jeremiah who put her in this situation. He had mix emotions for that female. Why was she effecting him? He wished he would know. She helped him when he was caught by the Deputy. She was nice to him. That could be it. People are nice because they want some thing in return. Tully was just nice. Which Jeremiah found attractive.
An arrow flew an inch from Jeremiah's eyes, he ducked, aiming his guns at the window. He darted toward the window. Slid his back up the wall, he poked his head out to see the horses are gone. “Dang it! Horses are gone! You got friends helping you?” He asked. A flamed arrow flew in. He took a few shots out the window. ooc: Luis and me agreed to spice it up. It will make them work together and possible put the hatred aside?

“Dang it! Horses are gone! You got friends helping you?”
"No," he answered Jeremiah, a puzzled look on his face. The flaming arrow barely missed him and the girl. Suddenly there was the sound of war whoops from outside. Lewis dropped to the floor, Tully still in his arm.
"Stay down," he warned Tully as he reached for the burning arrow and, pulling it out of the wall. Snuffing out the fire he crawled over to where Jeremiah was looking out of the window.
A small band of Indians had their horses and were shooting at the shack. "damn!" Lewis cursed. "It's Red Wolf and his bunch of renegades," he told Jeremiah. "We're on his territory. He's been trying ta git rid af me fer months. He'll keep are hosses and take the girl fer their own after they kill us."

"Then don't let 'em kill you," Tully growled, elbowing Louis in the ribs. "Gimme a gun or somethin', I can shoot with ya." If not just shoot him in the first place! "Are they in th' back? Maybe we can sneak out that way?" More than the outlaws, Tully was afraid of the Indians...she knew what they were capable of and it wasn't pretty!
